Dana Earl, Principal
Dana is a national grantwriter with more than two decades of experience working with science museums, conservation organizations, and public broadcasting. She has raised more than $60 million dollars primarily through government, foundation, and corporate grants. Many of these grants have provided foundational funding to address climate change, create new exhibits, research and evaluate visitor learning outcomes, and expand existing programs. Dana was part of the Development team during the Exploratorium’s $300 million capital campaign. In addition, she has had the honor of working at Point Blue Conservation Science in Petaluma, California, American Rivers in Washington, DC, Thirteen/WNET in New York, and KID Museum in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dana brings a passion for advancing science learning to her proposal writing. She has a strong commitment to working with teams to develop competitive proposals that bring their projects to life. A few of her favorite projects that she has worked on include Ciencia Publica Skateboarding Science, EDGE: Exhibit Designs for Girls’ Engagement, Living Liquid: Interactive Visualizations of Scientific Datasets, and Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed (STRAW).
She has a B.S. in Biology from The College of New Jersey and tried teaching middle school science before finding fundraising. In addition to grantwriting, her fundraising experience includes developing long-term fundraising plans to support strategic initiatives, multi-year annual giving programs, community-based fundraising events, and data migration and data management. She currently lives in Oakland, California where she regularly hikes, visits museums, and enjoys eating out.
